With Casting Director Vicky Johnston
I offer consulation services for actors and parents of actors for when you need advice, direction or critiquing. This is particularly good if you need someone to observe and give feedback on an important self-tape submission, demo reel advice, help with setting up your online profile with a platform like casting networks or anything else related to the industry as an actor. I am not an acting coach but can guide you on how to give a better performance for your self-tape, and give you advice on what the casting director is likely thinking or is expecting from you to be the top casting option.
Consultations are via zoom. This is a video chat where we can share screens and information. If you can join the zoom meeting from a laptop that would be ideal. I work with talent world-wide but please know I can only give sessions in English.
Here’s what you need to know before you book a consultation, so there is full clarity:
- You can provide me with any materials ahead of time. I will send you an uploader file link in your confirmation email. You can use this link to drop in videos, images and documents. You will need to label each file with your first and last name so I can identify them easily. You can also have your media ready at the session and then share your screen with me, if you prefer.
- My job is to help you improve, answer any questions and give you personalized advice that will benefit you the most to help you succeed quicker. Please know – that I will be giving you my honest feedback. Sometimes this can be hard for some people to receive, but it will help you in the long run to excel so you can get cast. Your consultation is all about you. I’ll be nice in giving you feedback, of course but in order for your session to be effective and to help you the most, I will tell you truthfully what I think. Please keep in mind that feedback will be my opinion. I have worked with thousands of talent and can give you valuable insights, if you’re open to it. The question is always “How can you make it better?”
- Please prepare for the meeting by being in a quiet and non-distracting environment so you can fully engage and focus. This is an important meeting to help you in your career.
- I do not give legal or accounting advice. Please seek a legal or tax professional. I have run serveral businesses and can provide you with business and management advice for the business side of an actor.
- In the booking form below you will be asked for a suitable time to meet via zoom. I will make every effort to make that time work for you but if my schedule does not make it possible we can set an alternative time the works conveniently for both of us.
- Best times are during normal business hours but I may be able to open my schedule if normal business hours does not work for you. Please note that I am on Mountain Standard Time (MST).
- Payment must be made upfront. A full refund is given if you cancel 24 hours before the appointment. If you cancel within 24 and 2 hours of the appointment you will receive a refund of 50% of your booking fee. After that, no refund is given. (Sorry but I have blocked out and dedicated that time just for you when I could have opened it up to another person). If no notice was given and you were a ‘no show’ this is also cause for no refund. Please make every effort to contact me if you think you cannot make your appointment time. The clock starts when our approved appointment time begins. If you arrive late the clock began at the approved appointment time and cannot be reclaimed. You can postpone the consultation 24 hours before your scheduled appointment time.
- Please be on time for your appointment. Your session will end at exactly the time frame you have scheduled for. I will give you a 5 minute indicator before the session ends. If you need to extend the time you can purchase more time in 15 minute increments at a prorated amount, if I am available to continue the session. Please know that some sessions can be back to back. I will send you a payment link if an extension is requested.
- As a casting director I will give honest answers to any question related to the film industry to best help you. Please note that our conversation, and my advice is not a guarantee of employment.
